Pregnancy Constipation – Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy

We’ve all heard the stories of all the weird things women want to eat when they are pregnant. While you may think a lot of that is just stories, you may be surprised that once you are pregnant you start wanting all kinds of things at weird times. This is natural, but you need to be careful what kinds of things you are eating, as many of them can be a cause to need pregnancy constipation relief.

Here’s a quick look at some of the foods that can cause you problems.

Breads, items like white bread, biscuits, bagels, doughnuts, pancakes, and pizza dough are often a cause for needing pregnancy constipation relief. The reason is that these are often white breads and are a lot of starch with no fiber. That lack of fiber can make these be nothing more than a blob of useless waste that has to make its way through your system and may bog things down.

White potatoes whether it is a baked potato, mashed potatoes, hash browns or french fries, white potatoes are just like white bread, full of starch and lacking in fiber that means they can also slow things down in your digestive tract and help add to your constipation relief problems.

Pasta, white pastas (semolina) and rice noodles are also going to cause you a need for pregnancy constipation relief. Again, the problem is these are low in fiber and are refined and processed foods that are just a lot of starch you are taking in.

Instead you want to put yourself on a higher fiber diet and look for more whole grain bread and pasta items that will be better for your overall health and lessen the chances that you will have constipation relief needs.

If you already are dealing with pregnancy constipation, you may want to find a way to make it go away and then make sure you work on that healthier diet afterward. Well this is not that hard of a thing to accomplish. You can start with a colon cleanse to clear the slate, if you will.

Many of today’s colon cleanses can be taken as an oral supplement and you can go through the process in the comfort of your own home. Make sure to check with your doctor to see that it is fine for you to have a colon cleanse. This will likely depend on the details of your pregnancy
