Bodily Changes Cause Pregnancy Constipation
May 22nd, 2009 adminIf you have recently become pregnant you may have started noticing a lot of changes to your body. Some will be good, some will be new and interesting, and some will be not so pleasant. One of those may be constipation. There are a number of things that are happening in your body that can make you need pregnancy constipation relief.
Hormones. As your body changes into pregnancy mode, there is an influx of certain hormones that will take place. While these hormones are all necessary in order to help make the transition into nurturing a new life, they can also have negative effects on your digestive tract. Sometimes the shift in hormones can lead to constipation.
One very common thing to happen when it comes to hormones is that some of the hormones during pregnancy actually relax muscles in the intestine so you can process more of the food in your body to be used as nutrients for you and the baby. This also slows down the motion of that waste in your body and gives a greater chance of forming constipation as that waste dries up as it crawls through your digestive tract.
Stress. Pregnancy is a stressful time on the body. Stress can have a number of effects on your system. From headaches to body aches and even digestive changes, stress can do a number of things to your system. Among the side effects of stress is causing constipation.
.
Physical Impact. The physical changes in the body can also be a cause of constipation. As the baby grows inside the body, the uterus grows. That can push down on the intestines and digestive system. This extra pressure can make it harder for waste to move through the system and ultimately cause a slow down in the process, which can lead to constipation.
Once you have constipation, you may want to take an over the counter laxative in an attempt at pregnancy constipation relief. The only problem with this is that your body can become addicted to the use of a laxative and eventually, you will always be constipated if you don’t use one.
Instead, you may want to try something that will keep your digestive tract clean, but without the addictive qualities. One option is a colon cleanse. Oral colon cleanses are the best as they completely clear the whole system. You may also want to look for a natural colon cleanse that gives off oxygen as this will help your body giving it a boost of energy, and may help in healing from the oxygen byproduct.
